Business Development Manager, Business Development Department

Responsibilities
• Competitor Analysis: I am currently the custodian of scanning the internal and external business environment to identify any threats or opportunities with a focus on competitor analysis.
• Product repositioning: I am currently exploring different opportunities and avenues to improve the current company product portfolio to match the changing customer needs and preferences and changes in technology.
• Partnership onboarding and management: I am leading the team that is sourcing potential partners important to the company’s strategic direction with a focus on digital loans, global reach and market influence.
• Customer acquisition process streamlining: There is a strong need to keep improving the business’ customer acquisition process with the aim of achieving lean services and reducing waste at all production levels.
• 2030 Strategy development and implementation: I am currently creating the 5-year strategy that is going to be implemented to refocus the company with entry into new global markets in Tanzania, Cameroon, and Nigeria reporting to the Senior Management Team. This project is managed by Tugende Global.
• Brand redesigning and improvement: The current focus is on corporate branding to have the company’s brand gain visibility in the corporate space since this has been ignored for a long period of time with respect to our target customers.
• Product diversification: I am still responsible for the company’s product diversification strategy with a focus on ancillary products and services. The current target is disbursing a $4M portfolio from ancillary services and products.
Achievements
• I am currently implementing a $4M project on ancillary services and products with an outstanding portfolio value of $2M. Under this activity launch, I supervise a team of 7 officers.
• I recently onboarded the following partners: SunCulture and Senagy from Kenya, KwaSolar, Yo Ltd, Monedge, Jumia, Kizkin, and KFC from Uganda. These partners promote sales and offer exposure of our brand at different levels.
• I am overseeing the extended launching of the agriculture sector in Kenya after a 1-year successful pilot in Uganda with tractors and irrigation equipment under a partnership with SunCulture Ltd.
• I recently launched Uganda branch rebranding which involved repainting all 23 locations with the new brand guidelines, office layout redesign to align with the new customer acquisition processes and updating all brand collaterals.
• I recently presented the findings from the Q1 competitive analysis and we identified that our competitors were gaining market traction with their focus on our weaknesses.
• We are currently exploring new countries like Tanzania, Senegal, Cameroon, and Nigeria to understand their business entry requirements, market dynamics, and global influence with respect to our 2030 company strategy.
Product Development Senior Sector Lead, Commercial Department

Responsibilities
• Supervise and manage all pilot products and activities under the Mobility and Agriculture sectors for Uganda and Kenya
• Development of new products through a series of product design gates not limited to primary research, feasibility surveys, pilots, business plan, launching, and evaluation.
• Customer Financial Analysis. It is my responsibility to compile all customer financial information, analyze the cashflows and make credit decisions for every client’s loan application.
• Risk Management. As a product developer, I have to identify, classify and implement measures to reduce the impact of the examined product risks.
• Account Management. I manage a lease portfolio worth Ugx 5 billion and ensure that PAR 30 is maintained below 10%. This requires maintaining excellent collections culture with the customer portfolio.
• Asset Procurement. It is my responsibility to ensure that assets are purchased from suppliers and make them ready for leasing. This involves supplier matrix scoring, negotiating prices, and taking critical procurement procedures to secure good quality assets.
• Needs Assessment. Working with various departments to understand organizational needs, prioritizing Special Projects in line with organization objectives, and planning expected deliverables and deadlines.
Achievements
• I was able to implement a $10M Light Duty Truck product with an outstanding Portfolio of $12M. Under this activity launch, I supervised a team of 21 officers.
• I managed to launch 5 products with a current outstanding portfolio of $6M. Products like tractors, trucks, outboard boat engines, irrigation equipment and taxis in Mobility and Agriculture sectors.
• I managed to lead a team that was responsible for launching of the agriculture sector into Kenya after a 1-year successful pilot in Uganda with tractors and irrigation equipment.
• I successfully expanded the light duty truck product from Kampala to 15 branches in the country under a short time acceleration plan with a Ugx 250M budget for 4 months to generate $7M in revenue.
• I managed to increase the portfolio value for the Special Hire Product from 3 to 85 Active Leases with an Outstanding Portfolio of Ug Shs 3.5 billion.
• I managed to roll out 2 new products for the entire company, Business Assets, Tractors and Boats Engine.
• Negotiated for a $24M Equity investment for the company expansion. I was part of the team that sought a contract of project implementation from Unus Investment during the Sankalp Africa Summit, 2020 in Nairobi.
• Improved customer records management with the latest information system.
