Project: World bank, Refugee survey for the Impacts of COVID-19 on Refugees (Rhino camp, Nakivale, Bidibidi, Kiryandongo, Kyangwali, kyaka II etc) RCTs Baseline, midline and End line.
Core Tasks:
- The responsibilities included field team hiring, training, developed training materials and conduct trainings for managing field teams and field managers, coordinating survey tools and protocols, nurturing relationships with local authorities, conducting field support and supervision visits, drafting documents to improve field operations, collecting best practices, and supporting the Country Director in budget development and technical proposals that answered to the needs of different TORs or Expression of interest.
- Managing the project schedule, activity plan and planning milestones, supporting the tracking of progress and deliverables from field perspective and relaying this information to the clients.
- Coordinate the collaboration and implementation of the different data collection projects for the partners, clients, government, cooperatives, other private sector players etc. These projects were running parallel and needed to be conducted all at ago.
- Writing clear and timely reports for the clients in collaboration with project teams, technical teams, and research team. This ensured there was timely reporting on project progress, plans, changes, challenges encountered and potential solutions to them.
- Additionally, the position involved carefully liaising with and seeking ethical authorizations and clearances from the Research Ethics Committees, Uganda National Council of Science and technology (UNCST) academia, public service, government entities, NGOs, Implementing partners, local authorization etc. Health and insurance officers.
- In terms of business development, I supported the development of appropriate communication materials, templates, technical documents, advocacy and policy briefs.
- Designed the survey instruments using SurveyCTO, deployed and provided technical support in comprehending and critiquing of the protocol and survey tool pretesting and piloting of the tool.
- Conducted data quality assurance to ensure data collected is accurate, reliable and within high integrity.
- Conducted spot checks, regular field visits to monitor the implementation of activities and ensure that MEAL tools and protocols are being utilized effectively, assessing, and identifying breakdowns and areas that require clarifications and improvements.
- I was charged with the preparing of clear-cutting edge field budgets, financial forecasting and approximation, field plan and comparing it against the client budget for data collection. This ensured that activities costs are kept within budgets in comparison with the client budgets
- Led a portfolio of projects that were being conducted in the Uganda office at a time and ensuring they have been delivered in accordance to the highest standards whilst ensuring they abide by the time, cost and scope and Quality.
- I was in charge of issuing the teams with logistics per-diems, contingency fees relevant for the field work study. I secured venues for trainings, transportation, dispatching of field work team and interim meetings at national, district and sub county level.
- I served as the enumerators’ first-in-line supervisor for technical questions, logistical needs, and quality assurance/quality control measures during the training, during data collection and after the project.
- Conducted preliminary analysis of the data using STATA and Excel for the data being collected.
- Potentially manage data collection teams to ensure high quality data and provided overall quality assurance of the data collected.

Title: Senior Field Officer (SFO)
Project: CB-HIPP (Cross border Health Integrated partnership Project– Busia, Majanji, Malaba, Kasensero and Katuna dry and wet Borders – HIV Project) Embedded Formative Assesment
Core Tasks: While at FHI360 Uganda, I have been a Moderator, Trainer, Supervisor, Team leader, Research assistant and Translator. I have conducted quantitative and qualitative research using FGDs (Focus Group Discussions), IDIs (In-depth Interviews) and KII’s (Key informant Interviews) with my different respondents who were the most at-risk population, Community Health Workers, (CHWs) Health workers, District Health Officers (DHO), Female Sex Workers (FSWs), vulnerable girls and women (VWGs) Men having sex with men (MSMs), Opinion leaders and political leaders in the sites of Malaba, Busia, Majanji and Katuna. Our main respondents here were out patients in the different HC II, III and IVs who used to get their refills. We also interviewed those with TB in these facilities.
- Supported the development of the research tools, protocols, methodology, and analysis.
- Trained Enumerators in ODK and Survey CTO and ensured that lessons learned are captured, synthesized, reported, and disseminated.
- Provided capacity building for local teams, developing tools tailored to specific needs;
- Conducted simple analysis of collected data so as to provide robust answers to evaluation and research questions as asked by the PI;
- Provide Quality Assurance and Quality Control of draft and final reports;
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and consultants; Other duties as assigned
- Liaised with relevant stake holders on the progress of the data collection.
- Checked and verified the performance of audio recorders, Tablets and laptops and other logistics.
- Transcribed all recorded interviews, verified and cleaned data wrote the project reports.

- Managed the whole evaluation and oversaw the seamless flow of different Team Members;

Core Tasks: Led these projects in Kasese, Kamwenge, Hoima, Rakai and Mityana. The respondents were caregivers of the OVCs, CHWs, opinion leaders and local leaders and farmers. Among the other responsibilities I held were;
- Planning, organizing and implementing the Project Phases i.e. From Baseline, Midline and End line.
- Budgeting for the entire project, Purchases of field logistics, Recruitment of the field officers, field supervisors etc. I was responsible for the logistical issues of the team, the finances, transportation, and accommodation.
- Development of training materials, slides and actual training of the field officers on the questionnaires & tools to be used during the data collection activities.
- Oversee and support field officers in carrying out all field activities in accordance with the Organization’s protocols for quality and ethical procedures.
- Regularly check with Field officers on the progress of their work and provide relevant support.
- Maintain accurate records of expenses, including transportation costs and other expenses, in accordance with Organization’s field finance procedures. And ensuring that all field expenses are cost-effective and relevant to project work. Detail reporting of progress in the field to Research team, Associates and the Principal Investigators.
- Seeking for ethical and administration clearance from the relevant authorities such as the district officials (i.e. Residence District Officers, Chief Administrative Officers, and District Internal Security Officers) for approval and security before the commencement of the data collection.

Core Tasks: While with WEI/B in Tororo, I conducted quantitative research with caregivers of the OVCs, CHWs, opinion leaders and local leaders. Among the other responsibilities I held were;
- Data collection, leading a team of 20 enumerators and was responsible for the logistical issues of the team, the finances, transportation, and accommodation.
- Reviewing completed questionnaires daily to ensure they have been filled in properly;
- Drew a field plan and conducted back-check for at least 25% of all the surveys done daily.

I served as a Field Officer, Team leader, Anthropometric Enumerator and a respondent tracker for all the different projects. The CHP (Community Health Project) that was being implemented by GOAL International had me managing a team of 40 Field Officers with whom we conducted 2800 quantitative surveys using Survey CTO loaded on tablets. These data included those from different households’ nutrition levels, health levels and neo natal new born anthropometry in the districts of Budaka, Pallisa, Mbale, Tororo, Katakwi, Amuria, Bukedea and Kumi.
- Led training sessions on administration of surveys to enumerators. Assigned enumerators to respondents using field plans and oversaw groups of enumerators and aided in completion of all surveys.
- Maintained accurate records of field expenses and respondents’ incentives.
- Communicated difficulties or potential issues with data or interviews to supervisors
- Ensured good communication between research management and enumerators in the field
- Discussed regular field progress reports with Field manager and Principal Investigators
- Participated in project meetings to ensure field activities are compliant with set guidelines.
- Liaised with village leaders and other local authorities to support a smooth flow of field activities. Translated tools and consent forms into the target languages and later went on to pretest them. Conducted data collection and tracked down hard to reach respondents.
